Mavine P. Gross, 78, of Buena, went home to be with her blessed Savior, surrounded by her loving family on March 30, 2012. Born and raised in Westville, she lived in New Gretna for many years before moving to Cranberry Run of Buena 25 years ago. Mavine’s love of children was evident through her dedication as a girl scout and brownie leader, a Sunday school teacher, room mother, VBS teacher, and up until the time of her illness cared for and taught with her husband, the babies and toddlers of their church. She also enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, and especially working on her three doll houses. Mavine loved to entertain family and friends and was an exceptional hostess. One of her fondest memories was when she and George took the whole family to Disney World in ’05. Throughout her five-year illness her husband never missed a day at her side. She looked forward to the weekly phone calls she received from her faithful sister Connie Ryker (Joseph) of Ft. Pierce, FL. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her devoted husband of 55 years George S. R. Gross, Jr., her three loving children; George III (Judy), Cherie Flath (Dennis), and Cindy Mavine Gross, her six wonderful grandchildren, Dennis and Carly Mavine Flath, Heather and Lauren Gross, and Walter and Emma Harris. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Reeve with whom she and George shared many wonderful times together. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd, from 5-7pm, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where celebration of her life services will be begin at 7pm.
