Melvin Ein

Mr. Melvin Bennett Ein, age 77 of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away on Monday, October 26, at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-Mainland Campus with his loving wife Connie at his side. He was born in 1932 in Hammond, Indiana, the eldest son of David and Rose (Chayken) Ein. Melvin attended the University of Indiana, and upon graduation he was commissioned in the Army, served in Korea and retired a Major. He was later stationed with the federal government in Laos (USAID) until 1975, when Americans were evacuated from the country. The family then returned to the U.S., at which time he continued his government career at FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center. He finished out his career in Washington, DC, where he worked for the Comptroller of the Currency. In his spare time and in his retirement, he was an avid collector and enjoyed family gatherings, Hoosier basketball games, and visits to the casinos. He especially enjoyed learning about achievements in the lives of his six children and numerous grandkids. He is predeceased by both parents and his brother Nathan. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years Connie (nee Chung), his sister Carol (Alvin) Katzowsky, six children: Esther (Jim) Muskopf of Virginia, Debbie (Jim) Snell of Florida, Michael (Deborah) Ein of Hammonton, NJ, Ruth (Chris) McCurry of Kansas, Nathan Ein of Delaware, and Sarah Ein, of Mays Landing, NJ, as well as 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, his niece Sharon (Stuart) Shapiro and nephew Nate (Christine) Greenberg, their children and many other loving family members and friends. Service will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing on Thursday at 11 a.m. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Internment is at Veteran¹s Cemetery in Estell Manor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Attn: Tribute Gifts, P.O. Box 780, Church Street Station, New York, NY 10008-0780.
