Nathaniel Clybourn Obituary

Nathaniel “Cedric” Clybourn 60, of Egg Harbor City, NJ passed away peacefully in the loving presence of his family on August 31,2019 after a brave battle with cancer. Cedric was born July 21, 1959 to the late Nathaniel, and Julia (Gray) Clybourn. Cedric the third of nine siblings was raised (an Airforce brat) in multiple places; the Bears head section of Mays landing NJ, Clark Airforce base of Clark Angeles Philippines, Robins Airforce base of Warner Robins GA, and Dover Airforce base of Dover DE. In 1979 Cedric graduated from Oakcrest high school of Mays landing immediately enlisting in the united states army, a time he spoke often and fondly of which included a stint in South Korea receiving an honorable discharge in 1985. He was a longtime employee for Wheaton Coated Products in Mays landing NJ and remained with the co. for 18 years. In 2005 he started a career with NJ transit Bus Division of Egg Harbor township NJ. He was very proud of his achievements there and “his brothers,” as he called them, the members of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 880 of Camden NJ. In February 2002 Cedric married Joanie Sanders. Their union provided him, he often stated, “the two best things to happen in my life,” their two daughters Tamera and Jada. He loved and cherished their whole being, and also his three step children; Mia, Tyler, and John, who he loved as his own. Family meant everything to Cedric, “I’m a Clybourn” he would say with the pride of a lion, he had an unconditional love and pride for family. A plain man is what Cedric called himself, though quietly understated would be a better description. A fitted hat, a piece of silver jewelry, a nice pair of sneaks and a crease in his jeans, you couldn’t tell him he wasn’t Clean ( sharp). He was an avid sports fan, but for the Dallas Cowboys he was a diehard loyalist Just as he was in friendship. He maintained many lifelong friends who accepted him as he was; a gentle soul who cussed like a sailor and made no excuses, loyal for life. Cedric predeceased by sister Lila Gray; leaves to mourn his two daughters; Tamera and Jada Clybourn of Millville NJ, stepmother Laida Clybourn of Dover DE, nine siblings; Valerie Clybourn of Mt Airy PA, Yvonne (Kevin) Brevard of Mays Landing NJ, Julian (Jaime) Clybourn of West Palm Beach FLA, Shane (Linda) Clybourn of FT Wayne IND, Lydia Hampton of Vineland NJ, Thomas Clybourn of La plata MD, Clyde (Rebecca) Clybourn of El Paso TX, a step brother and sister; Jaime (Madeline) Dula of Woodside DE, and Maria “tess” Dula (Jon) of Felton DE. An Uncle Troy Clybourn of Vineland NJ, an Aunt Henrietta Coles of Grayson GA, and Special cousin Edlen (Jenny)Clybourn, of Mays Landing NJ, along with many other cousins, nephews , nieces, family, and friends. CED left us on Saturday August 31st after 12 noon after taking his destiny into his own hands. He chose to decline medical artificial assistance, he decided how to make his departure. My husband, my sister, and I had the opportunity to converse with him, and he also called and spoke with some other loved ones stating, “I’m Out” I love you, before his final sleep. I salute him, I will forever respect and cherish his taking the reins, removing the final call from my hands. I love you brother.
