Ernst, Nora (Dougherty, Oberman), 92, of Mays Landing, passed away September 9, 2017 surrounded by her devoted family. Nora was a lifelong resident of Atlantic County. Growing up in Atlantic City, she graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1944. Her work career started at Guarantee Bank, and she later retired from Prudential Insurance Company. In 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, William Oberman, raised a family, and they lived happily until his death in 1974. Nora was fortunate thereafter to meet Ralph Ernst. They married in 1976, blended their families, and lived happily until his death in 2002. Throughout her lifetime she loved to crochet, play cards, dance, travel, and enjoy life with her family and friends. She was a member of her high school Sorority, The Red Hat Club, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, and St. Vincent de Paul Church. She is survived by her children: William Oberman (Linda), Theresa Trainum (Andre), Patricia Finkbeiner (Brian), Ellen Ritson (Ken), and Joanne Sherman (Mark). She has 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Right at Home, her home healthcare provider and the Dorothy Ambulance Squad. A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 10-11 AM at St Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Hwy., Mays Landing, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
