Peggy A. Kotansky, 78, of Belcoville, NJ, passed away on January 12, 2020, after an extended illness. Peggy, the daughter of Otto and Catherine Eckert, was born on September 25, 1941, and grew up in Egg Harbor City, NJ. Peggy worked as the manager of Karin's Kurtains in Cardiff, NJ, for many years as well as a cashier at Dolly's Variety Store in Mays Landing, NJ, but her job as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother was by far her greatest accomplishment. She was married to her husband John Kotansky for 59 years. She was a loving mother to her two sons John and Tom, the lights of her life, as well as her grandchildren Kristina, Michele (deceased), and Thomas Jr. She adored and raised her great-grand daughter Ajah whom she loved dearly and was an instrumental part of her beloved great grandson Raymond's life who had recently passed. Peggy was a free spirit, a kind, compassionate and caring human being who would never turn her back on anyone. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her door was always open to everyone. She enjoyed her mini get away casino trips with her sister Grace and sister-in-law Nancy as well as hanging out with her longtime friend Bunny (Mariner). She loved a good seafood dinner and a hot cup of fresh coffee and rye toast. She enjoyed cooking for her family, with her Thanksgiving stuffing being a family favorite. She was also an avid animal lover. She will always be remembered as an "angel" to everyone and the glue that held her family together. She was affectionately known as "Gram" to everyone. Peggy was predeceased by her parents Otto and Catherine Eckert, her siblings Elizabeth, Otto, Katy, Guenther (James) and Emil, her grandchildren Michele Kotansky Lee, Raymond Kotansky, Sam Nash Little, niece Cheri, and former daughter-in-law Sue Fennen. She is survived by her loving husband John Kotansky, her sons John Kotansky and Tom Kotansky (Christine), her sister Grace Ransom (Gene), her brother Carl Eckert (Florence), her grandchildren Kristina Kotansky, Thomas Kotansky Jr. (Hailey), David Malick, Danny and Jimmy Smith, her great-granddaughters Ajah Kotansky and Jeorgiona DiCampli, great-grandson Nafis Lee, her sister-in-laws Gloria Banner, Nancy Eckert and Hank Eckert, numerous loving nieces and nephews (Diane, Kathy, Davey, Bobby, Jeffrey, Jimmy, Billy and Diane, and former daughter-in-law and friend Clare Kotansky(Mike). A Memorial gathering will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10am to 12pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, NJ 08330, followed by a Service at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Peggy's great-granddaughter “Ajah Kotansky” College Fund and can be sent c/o of Boakes Funeral Home.
