Percy Decker

Decker, Percy Grey, 91, of Mays Landing, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 24, 2007. He was a good, kind, and caring man who always had a song and a smile for his family, friends, and even people that he had just met. Born in Belfast, N. Ireland, coming to the U.S. in 1921, he had resided in Jersey City for over 60 years prior to moving to Mays Landing. He was a seaman, later employed in NYC as a building superintendent at 120 Liberty Street and Roadway Express in Kearny for over 20 years, and Atlantic Community College in Mays Landing for 10 years. Predeceased by his wife Edna Mae, two sons, Stephen P. and Kevin W., and grandson Kevin Norcia, three brothers (Charles, Jack, and Stephen) and six sisters (Isabella, May, Katherine, Elizabeth, Eleanor, and Maggie); he is survived by his son Jack of Jackman, ME (Gladys), Richard of Mays Landing (Jacqueline), daughter Meta Marshello and son-in-law Joseph of Mays Landing, Barbara Erickson of Old Bridge, and Beverly Thomas of Bayonne, his brother George of Virginia (Joann); 15 grandchildren: Joseph Marshello, Jr. (Tina), Meta Kelly (John), Darla D'Alessandro (Joseph), Jack (Mei-Lin), Jennifer, Jeanine, Natalie, Dakotah and Georgia Decker, Gerald (Deb) and David (Donna) Erickson, Jeanette Thomas (Charles), Kelly Ann Wilkins, Kim Norcia and Sean Napolitano; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 28 from 10 AM to 12 Noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing with services and reflections at 12 Noon. Burial will be at Egg Harbor City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oceanview Residential, 2721 Route 9, Oceanview, NJ 08230.
