Peter Ruchser Obituary

Peter Ruchser, 56, of Mays Landing , lost his battle of eight years as a warrior against Multiple Myeloma on July 9, 2012. He was a brave and courageous man and an inspiration to all who knew him. Born and raised in Hackensack, NJ on September 21, 1955, he lived in Atlantic County most of his life. A graduate of Rutherford High School and Richard Stockton College, Pete had a successful career in Atlantic City for 25 years beginning in the hard count room at Caesars and then returning to retire as the Vice President of Casino Operations. Pete loved going to the gym and working out and was very proud to have run numerous triathlons and marathons. Pete loved to cook and entertain his family and friends, and enjoyed a fine glass of wine and a good cigar. He was a friend to everyone he met. Of all his accomplishments, his sons were his greatest. He tried to show it in every way by loving his job as “Mr. Mom”, never missing a school or sporting event and loving the boys more than any Daddy could. The birth of each boy was the highlight of his life. He will be forever loved and greatly missed by his devoted wife and best friend, Tina (nee: Slickmeyer) and the joys of his life, his sons Joseph and Jacob. He is also survived by his in-laws Fred and Maryann Slickmeyer; brother and sister-in-law Fred Jr. and Rachael Slickmeyer; three nieces and three nephews; and two brothers Paul and John. He was predeceased by his parents Rosemarie and Peter Ruchser . The family requests that those attending wear red or royal blue, or a New York Giants jersey to honor Pete’s love of his New York Giants. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing and celebration of Pete’s life on Sunday, 5-7 PM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where reflections will be shared at 7 PM. A viewing will be held on Monday 10-11 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Monday. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
