Raymond Cox Obituary

Raymond Wayne Cox Sr. 83, of Mays Landing went home to be with the lord and his beloved wife of 62 years Gloria, on Friday September 25, 2009. He is survived by his son Raymond Jr., and 5 daughters, Denise Rae Doran, Kathleen Koch, Patricia, Janice and Eileen. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Raymond was a devoted father and loving husband. He lived most of his life in Brigantine where he worked as a realtor for many years with the Walker Rogge firm. Raymond served his country proudly as a Merchant Marine in WWII and was an active member of the New Jersey's Dennis Roland Chapter of the American Merchant Marines Veterans, where he worked diligently to get Merchant Marines recognition for their war time service. He delighted his friends and family with stories of his tours of duty which took him to every corner of the world. Ray was an avid craftsman and collector of model trains and he was a member of the Patcong Valley Society of Model Railroaders. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Service on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11am at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing. Friends may call beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Estelle Manor Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's memory to the charity of one's choice.
