Richard Cox (Rick), 73, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2017. Rick grew up in Philadelphia, PA, where he was a Philadelphia police officer for ten years. He and his family moved to Egg Harbor Township in 1984, where he worked at the Tropicana Casino as a blackjack dealer. With his children, Rick opened a family carpet/flooring business. Rick’s favorite pastime was playing poker, and he was an ardent fan of the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine Cox (nee Coluzzi) and his four children: David, Steven, Lisa, and Jeffrey.
Rick was a loving and most loved pop-pop who never missed a dance recital, baseball game, or hockey game of any of his 12 grandchildren: Lauren, Danielle, Sean, Christopher, Joseph, Jimmy, Brian, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Juliana, Michael, and Gabriella; and 8 great-grandchildren: Lilly, Sean, Ava, Ryan, Stevie, Jack, Luke, and Phoebe.
In addition to his immediate family, Rick was loved and will be missed by a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3pm with reflections at 3pm.
