Richard Charles Frank, “Rich”, 73, of Egg Harbor Township, died peacefully on January 30, 2015 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona. Rich suffered a stroke on January 3. Born February 19, 1941 in Camden to the late Kathryn and Christian Frank, he was an only child. Rich’s loving wife, soulmate, and best friend of 35 years, Madeline, survives him, as do his son Rich, Jr., grandson Kevin Christy, and cats Maya and Ziggy. Rich grew up in Berlin and Ocean City and graduated from Haddon Heights High School. He attended Drexel University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He worked both at De Val Aerodynamics and Boeing in Philadelphia. He was a taxi owner/operator in Atlantic City and in 1967 began a 33 year career with Xerox in various positions earning many awards. After retiring in 2001, he soon became a cruelty investigator for the Atlantic County SPCA. Because of his great love of animals, especially dogs, he did great work. As a vegan and animal rights activist, he and Madeline coordinated local activities for New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance and founded Circo America, focusing on performing animals. They went to many areas throughout the U.S. and even protested cruelty in London, England. They enjoyed traveling, especially a trip to Portugal. Rich was a kind, loving, gentle man whom many knew and loved. He will be greatly missed.
