Robert J. Capaldo, 84 of Smithfield, Rhode Island passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 28, 2015. Robert was born in Hoboken, NJ on December 10, 1930 and was raised in Roselle Park, NJ. He graduated from Roselle Park High School and Rutgers University. Robert proudly served in the US Army as a cook during the Korean War. Robert's career was spent working as an Industrial Engineer and retired from the Engelhard Corporation. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert Sr. and Elsie Capaldo and siblings Theresa Chuimento and Barbara Bulwin. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ruth A. (Herbster), devoted father to Ruth C. Arnold (Mark), granddaughter Joy, and son Robert R. (Joan) and grandchildren Robbie and Juliette. Robert is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was a grateful, kind and gentle man with an infectious personality, smile, and laugh. His mere presence lit up an entire room with happiness and love. He had a genuine way of making you feel good and always saw the best in everyone. Visitation from 10:00-11:00am will be held at St. Bernard's Church, Pennsylvania Ave. Dorothy, NJ. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, with a celebratory Mass immediately following.
