Robert Jackson, Jr. Obituary

Robert L. Jackson, Jr., age 85, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 12, 2008. He was born to the late Louise Stokes Jackson and Robert L. Jackson, Sr. on April 13, 1923 in Petersburg, VA. At the age of eighteen, Robert heeded the call to join the Navy and served during WWII. He worked in Aviation Supply, was a Hurricane Hunter and retired having made the Navy his life's career. He served the Navy and his country in active duty and civilian service for over 30 years. He was dedicated to the Navy and believed in its mission and values. Those who knew him realized how important the Navy was to him, it was his life along with God and his family. He was truly a Navy man. Robert was skilled with his hands and enjoyed working with tools as a mechanic and carpenter. Robert knew the Lord as his personal Savior and served the Lord faithfully. He was a member of the Shore Fellowship Church in Egg Harbor Township for the past seven years. Robert was preceded in death by his first son, Robert L. Jackson, two grand children, Tamara Inloes Hines and Conner Alexander Jones and his two sisters Florence Balthop and Lucille Jackson. In addition to his former wife, Ida Inez Inloes, Robert, is survived by his children, Robert L. Jackson, III (Janet) of Macon, GA, BettyAnn Inloes Hines (Preston) of Mays Landing, NJ, James Leon Jackson (Ernestine) of Philadelphia, PA, Jodi J. Jones (Winston) of Exton, PA, and Lavinia Louise Thompson (Vince) of Doylestown, PA. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Kleartis Jackson, Kenya Jackson Taylor (Carlton), Karma Jackson, Ronald Jackson, Koneda Lynn Jackson, Carlton Rogers, Calvin Rogers, Winston Elliot Jones, Amber Thompson, Ashley Thompson and Vince Thompson, Jr., great grandchildren Carlton Taylor, Jr., Keenan Taylor, Ja'Nell Jackson and Jamal Jackson. Special relatives are James L. Inloes, Sr. (Gloria), James L. Inloes, Jr. (Cheryl), Kathy Inloes, Deija Inloes, Andrew Pinkett (Bert), Bishop Willie Balthop (Doris), along with many other relatives and his church family. Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 starting with a viewing at 10:00am at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ. The interment with full military honors will be held following the funeral service at Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery Estell Manor Park.
