Ruth Reres Obituary

Ruth Marie Reres of Egg Harbor Township passed away suddenly on July 18th, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Philadelphia on September 28th, 1948. She is survived by her loving husband Steve Reres, her sons, Ron Guenther and Jack Guenther (Jennifer), Steve Reres, John Reres (Ellie) and daughters Donna Reres (Ed Paugh), and Terri (Art) Cox. She was also a loving mother-in-law to Monica Massey, Dawn Perna, and Krissy Guenther. Ruth’s greatest joy in life was being “Nan” and “Mom-Mom” to all of her beautiful grandchildren: Paul (Sara), Brian (Juliana), Nick, Cyrena, Jonathan, Stephanie, Steven (Giana), Alex (Krista), Sarah Marie (Brian), John (Sarah Lynn), Harry, and her angel, Gabriella. She loved to spoil her great-grandchildren Vincent, Ava, Ryan, Niko, Riley, and “Johnny Angel” and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kayley Gabriella in August. Ruth wore many hats, including that of “Big Sister” to her eight siblings: brothers Joseph “Beau” (Libby) Harty, Richard (Shelly) Harty, and Ed Harty, as well as her sisters Debbie (Bill) Keenan, and Penny (Jeff) Kowalski. She will be reuniting in heaven with her sister Joyce King, and brothers Jack and Alex Harty, as well as her parents, Joseph and Ellen Harty. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, too many to list. Ruth’s loving and nurturing nature led her to a nursing career that began when she graduated from Atlantic County Vocational School with her LPN degree. Her first position was with Doctors Groch and Heinman of Northfield. Her career continued at the Cape May VA Outpatient Clinic, where Ruth worked for many years. Ruth will be deeply missed by her current co-workers and friends at the Shore Physicians Group in Somers Point, where she has worked for several years with Dr. Hooper and the loving staff. Ruth was a dedicated nurse, member of Fresh Start Church, an avid bowler, traveler, and spoiler of her loved ones, including her two feline babies, Cindy and Lulu. She was passionate about gardening and had an obsession with hummingbirds that she shared with everyone. Her home and the homes of her loved ones are adorned with many hummingbird ornaments, feeders, wind chimes, and decorations. Please join us in celebrating Ruth's life. Her viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 25, from 9-11 AM at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Atlantic Co. Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.
