Sara Saravia, age 77 from Collings Lakes NJ, originally from Santo Domingo Suchitequez, Guatemala, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2012. She was born to the late Simeon Valladares and Antonia Eloisa Barrios on April 3, 1935. ‘Mama Saya’, as she was called by her Grand and Great-grandchildren was from Southern part of Guatemala. She, her late husband German, and her adult son Axel migrated to the States in the 70's and became US citizens in the 80's. She lived, worked and served with love and dedication in our community. Although she was born in the other Americas, this America became her country and she loved to be call a citizen. She was last employed for Caesar Casino and Hotel for 26 years. She was a great supporter to her family, passing on all her wisdom to her children Maria and Axel. She also leaves behind her wonderful grandchildren; Sheela, Yoshua, Erik, Marcel, Gabriel, and Samuel and her vibrant great grandchildren; Blake, Liannah, Angelina, and Gianni. Mama Saya was a true nurturer. She was also survive by her sisters; Martha, Graciela and Concepcion (Chon) and her brothers; Manuel Humberto, Maria Jose (Pepe), Julio, Simeon (Moncho) and Fernando (Tavo). Once a walking pillar, now a beacon of light forever in all our hearts and minds. Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening March 6, 2013 from 6PM to 8PM, and Thursday Morning March 7, 2013 from 10am to 11am, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where services will be held at 11am.
