Seaton Thorne

Box 227, Dorothy, NJ 08317.Seaton “Lefty” Thorne, 90, of Estell Manor, New Jersey and formerly of Tennessee and Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 9, 2013. He was born April 14, 1923, in East Keansburg, NJ, to the late Zelma Seaton and Lester Mason Thorne. He had resided for the past three years at The Oaks at Weymouth. Before his retirement, he was plant manager of the night shift at the Dougherty Brothers plant in Buena, NJ. He also served as a volunteer fireman with both the Estell Manor and Dorothy Volunteer Fire Companies for many years. He was predeceased by both his first wife Jeanne Prickitt (nee: Furst) and his second wife Bernice Taylor; his brothers Horace “Bud” Thorne (World War II Medal of Honor recipient) and Lester M. Thorne, and a sister Zelma Livingston. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Norcross, step daughters, Marty Helmer of Weymouth and Shawn Malave of EHT; daughters, Lois Carr of Maurice River Township, Marcia Davison and Holly De Tulleo both of Mooers Forks, NY, and a son, Seaton “Buddy” Thorne of Brighton, TN; sisters, Anita Rochelle-Keyser of Red Bank, Edith Nowels of Brielle, Verna Mauro of Holmdel, Annie Richmond of Florida, and a brother, Joe of Virginia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A private cremation service and interment will be held at the Estell Manor Community Church Cemetery, Cumberland Ave., Estell Manor, NJ. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 23, at 6:30 pm at the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company Hall, Tuckahoe Road, Dorothy, NJ.
