Thelma Emper, 95, of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away peacefully at her home on June 9, 2017. Thelma was born and raised in Mays Landing, but later, her and her husband, the late Vincent Emper built their home in Egg Harbor Twp. They had a general store while Ron was in school. Thelma was the youngest daughter of George and Anna Budden Myers. She is predeceased by her siblings Jeanette (Jean) Smith, Newton, George and Rowland, and her one and only child Ronald E. Emper. She is survived by her friend/daughter Ursula Stemm. and nieces Patricia Hendrickson, Gerry Lynn Myers, Debra Bosco, Daryl Baughman, and nephews Donald Myers, Keith Myers, Bruce Myers, Frank Emper, and their families. Thelma had many friends that kept her busy from exercise class at the community center or playing cards with another set of friends that she has known for over 30 years. She was known for her quest to keep learning, love music and always keep your sense of humor. Her favorite job was with the Atlantic County Senior Services as an advocate for the elderly. She always supported the rights of animals and the rights of the elderly and women. The consummate student that would take up an instrument just to learn it, she was enrolled in violin lessons. Her mantra was “Health is number one.” And after ninety five years of living, she went peacefully at home. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Thelma’s life on Thursday, June 15, 2017 with a gathering from 11:30am-12:30pm at Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main Street, Mays Landing, NJ with reflections at 12:30pm.
