Benson, William James, “Bill” 81, of Estell Manor, laid his heart to rest Sunday night, August 8,2010. Mr. Benson was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bill was in the Coast Guard, and from there into the Merchant Marines, where he retired a Captain after 27 years. He lived in Somers Point before moving to Estell Manor 30 years ago. Bill loved the water, fishing and boating. He owned and operated a charter boat (Capt. Bill), Benson’s Seafood with his wife, and a clam business in Brigantine. Predeceased in death by his wife, Margaret “Marge” (nee Yerka), Bill is survived by his daughter Margaret Staffieri (Raymond); grandchildren: Margaret (Neil), Ray, Jackie, and Reece; his great-grandchildren: Kaitlin and Melody. Services will be held on Friday, August 13 at 12:00pm, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing, where a viewing will be held from 11:00am til the time of the service. Burial will be in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona, NJ.
