Robert W. Brown, Sr. "Brownie" 86 of Egg Harbor Twp., passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born in Fairview, Camden to the late Maltier and Gertrude (Hoffman) Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Etta (McGehean) Brown, daughter Donna Marie (John) Borkowski, Son Robert William Jr. (Therese) Brown, daughter Sandra Lee (Donald) Kellerman and beloved grandchildren Maryetta Elizabeth Borkowski, John Edward Borkowski, Robert William Brown III, Rita Therese Brown, Donna Lee (Kellerman) Poore, and Laura Marie Kellerman. He attended Ventnor City public schools and Atlantic City High School. He spent many good times during his early years with his friends at Varella's Cafe. During World War II he worked at the Princess Hotel and a Military Uniform factory. He was an active member of the Father's Club for several years at Holy Spirit High School while his children attended school. He delivered papers for the Atlantic City Press and began a his employment as a butcher with Acme Markets when it was originally called the American Store. After 39 years of faithful service he retired as a Meat Manager. "Brownie" as he was affectionately called, enjoyed watching his son and grandchildren play sports. He loved his Phillies and Eagles, and spending time making memories with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11am at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish/St. Bernedette's Church 1421 New Rd. Northfield, A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of the mass. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Gianna-Beretta Molla Parish/ Church of St. Bernadette for a memorial gift, where Robert W. Brown, Sr. was a parishioner since the inception of St. Bernadette's Church.
