HIGGINS, THOMAS P., Jr. - 77, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Shore Medical Center, Somers Point. Tom was born in Philadelphia on October 17, 1939 to Thomas Sr. and Helen Higgins. He was a lifelong resident of Atlantic County. Tom honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from October 30,1958 to October 29, 1964 under the rank of Corporal E-4. He graduated from Stockton University with a BA Degree in Accounting. Tom retired as a Tax Assessor from the City of Atlantic City and also had been a licensed tax return consultant and preparer. Tom is predeceased by his wife, Letitia (nee McDonald), and is survived by his daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law Joseph Anderson of Browns Mills; sisters Mary Bellinger of Somers Point, and Helene Joyce of Brigantine; and a host of sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 724 Maple Avenue, Linwood. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am, with the funeral service to follow. Interment will follow at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.
