Obituary for Thomas S. Zyckowski

Zyckowski, Thomas S., Esq., 64, Special Agent (Ret.), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of Seaville, New Jersey, died suddenly on Fri. Aug. 8, 2014. Born and raised in Bellville, N.J., he graduated from Essex Catholic H.S., Newark, NJ and Rutgers University. He later completed a law degree at Seton Hall University. Tom entered the U.S. Army after law school and served honorably with the Judge Advocate General (JAG), attaining the rank of Captain.
After the service, Tom became a Newark, NJ Police Officer and within a few years received an appointment to the FBI Academy. He served twenty five years with the FBI as a Special Agent and had been recognized on numerous occasions by several agencies and organizations for his significant contributions to major interstate and international organized crime investigations. Tom retired in 2004 and since that time has worked part time with the Atlantic County Police Training Center and J & J Investigations (an investigative and consulting contractor). Tom has also been volunteering time to the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, for which he has served two terms as South Jersey Chapter President, The American Legion, veterans/old soldiers' homes and organ donor program efforts.
Tom was a devoted father to his four children. He is predeceased by his son Jonathan, his father Stanley, and his mother Alice. Tom is survived by his loving children, Tina Petry of Hammonton, NJ Thomas J. “T.J.” Zyckowski of Pleasantville, NJ, and Heather Zyckowski of Seaville, NJ, who are all now grown and have become successful professionals themselves.
Friends may call Thursday evening from six until eight o’clock at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ.
A Mass of Resurrection will be offered Friday morning at 11 o’clock from the Church of the Resurrection of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, NJ where friends may call from ten o’clock until 10:45. Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
