Sister Janet Luik, CSJP, 83, of Englewood Cliffs died peacefully at Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck, NJ. She was born on April 26, 1930 in Detroit, MI, to the late Carl J. Luik and Emilie Weidle. Sister Janet entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace at St. Michael Villa Novitiate on June 29, 1955 and pronounced final vows there on August 22, 1961. Sister ministered in education and nursing: St. James School, Penns Grove; St. Joseph Village, Rockleigh; Villa Marie Claire; St. Joseph’s, Washington, NJ; St. Joseph Home for the Blind, Jersey City; and St. James Hospital, Newark. From 1968-1972, Sister volunteered with Catholic Relief Services in Viet Nam and Cambodia. She retired to St. Michael Villa in 2003. Sister Janet was pre-deceased by her sister, Nancy B. Rooney. She is survived by her brothers, Frank Luik, Rochester Hill, MI and Wolff D. Luik, Germany, and nephews, Norman Luik and Michael Lyons. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013, from 2-7 PM at St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 14 at 9:00 AM in St. Michael Villa Chapel. Arrangements byAngelo G.
