Thomas Cuomo Obituary

Thomas F. Cuomo passed away peacefully Sunday, August 18th, 2019 at his home in Somerset, NJ. He was 90 years old. Born on July 3rd, 1929 in Bloomingburg, NY, Tom moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1953 when he married the love of his life Janet Ardizzone. He was a resident for many years in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn before retiring with Janet to Renaissance at Raritan Valley in Somerset, NJ in 2004. Tom was a long time parishioner at St. Ephrem Church, in Brooklyn and St. Mathias Church in Somerset. He worked as an oil burner mechanic for over 40 years and was a valued employee of Arzan Utilities, Inc. and later LaForgia/Empire State Fuel, both in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the US Naval Reserve in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Tom enjoyed spending time with his cherished family, hunting, fishing and fixing things. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Janet in 2014, his sister Acelia Spadola in 2018 and his parents Thomas and Harriet Cuomo. He is survived by his daughters, Linda and her husband Paul Marotta of NY, and April and her husband Anthony DeCandia of FL; his sons, Thomas J. and his wife BettyAnn of NY, and Steven A. and his wife Anne of NY; his grandchildren, Lauren, Joseph, Alyssa, Paul, Thomas S., Thomas J., and Anthony; his great grandchildren, Anna, and Gabriella; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ followed by an 11:00 AM Mass at St. Matthias RC Church, 168 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Somerset, NJ. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to a charity of your choice.
