William Coleman

William “Bill” Coleman Sr., 81, passed away August 19, 2015, with his family by his side. Bill was born in New York City and moved to Jackson, NJ, in 1963. Bill retired in 1999 from A&P Supermarkets. Bill served honorably in the United States Army from 1952 to 1955. He is a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6201 Jackson, NJ, where for many years he took great pride in leading the annual holiday toy drive. He was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan, and a member of the “Over the Rail Gang”, where he met daily with friends for fishing and storytelling. He was loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years Rita O’Neill Coleman, and his 3 children William Coleman Jr., Nora Coleman, and Stephen Coleman. He is also survived by his two daughters-in-law Carol Coleman, Maria Coleman, and his two cherished grandsons Jack and Christopher Coleman. Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 2 – 4 and 7 -9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:30 am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Avenue, Manasquan. Burial will be place at the NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Coleman’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
