Ida Cacchione

Ida Maria Cacchione, 95, of Newark died on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Born in Pietracupa, Italy in 1923, she immigrated to the United States with her husband Vincenzo and sons Philip and Gino. She worked as a seamstress and homemaker and was the caring matriarch of the Cacchione family. Ida took pride in cooking, canning her own tomatoes, and loved to watch her favorite soccer team Juventus. She was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo and is survived by her loving son Philip, daughters-in-law Donna and Denyse, grandchildren Vincent, Talya Rose, Nicholas, and Louis, granddaughter-in-law, Magali, and great granddaughter Alaska. She was predeceased by her husband Vincenzo, son Gino, sisters Anita and Mafalda, brother Luigi, and parents Amelia and Vincenzo Meale. She was a member of the Amici della Roccia Italian-American Association of Westfield and is also survived by a large extended family in both Italy and the United States. Relatives and friends are invited to visit 4-8PM Sunday July 14th at Dooley’s Colonial Funeral Home in Westfield, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Monday July 15th at Holy Trinity RC Church, in Westfield, NJ (Meet at the church) followed by an entombment at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations to Compassus Hospice are appreciated (Compassus Hospice, 86 El Water St, Toms River, NJ) Memorial or Honor Donation - Compassus Living Foundation
