Obituary for Anne O'Brien

O’Brien, Anne (nee Blome) age 87 died Sunday, April 21, 2013 after a long and full life. Married to John O’Brien in 1959, loving mother to David and Kathleen, Anne was a member of the Waldwick United Methodist Church while living in Waldwick. She was an active member of the Ruth Circle group in that community. The daughter of immigrants, she knew the value of hard work and self-sacrifice. With her husband Jack, she made sure her two children would enjoy a richer life than she had led. She lived to see both her son and daughter earn advanced degrees, embark on professional careers, and raise happy families. In her younger days, she was a champion bowler. A skilled seamstress, she supplied her grandchildren with custom pajamas and stuffed toys. While still living in Waldwick, she regularly donated her custom made clothing and toys to her church for fundraising. In 2002, she moved to Warwick, NY to be closer to her daughter; there she was a member of the Warwick United Methodist Church. She later moved to the Atrium in Allendale, NJ where she enjoyed the company of many friends. Before her retirement in 1989, she was a secretary for the Ramsey High School. Surviving are her 2 children, David and his wife Irene O’Brien of Montclair, NJ and Kathleen O’Brien Shannon and her husband Edward of Warwick, NY. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Connor and Meghan O’Brien and Denis and Patrick Shannon, and her sister, Mary (Mickey) Stremme of East Stroudsburg, PA. She was predeceased by her husband John (Jack) O’Brien in 1995, her brothers, Charles, Frederick and August and her sister, Dorothy.
