Tanis, Cornelius, age 86 of Flemington, NJ, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He was born in Prospect Park, NJ, on April 8, 1929 and resided in Doylestown, PA and Huntersville, NC before moving to Flemington, NJ a year ago. He was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was a manager with General Electric in King of Prussia, PA. Cornelius is survived by his wife Bella (nee Ruitenberg) of Flemington, NJ, his son, Timothy Tanis and his wife, Glenda of
Holly Springs, NC, his two daughters, Jane Tanis of Bethlehem, PA and Joanne Hughes and her husband, Mark of Plainsboro, NJ and two grandchildren, Evan and Margaret Hughes and his sister, Martina Kuiper of Grand Rapids, MI. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in memory of Cornelius be sent to Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, 700 Mountain Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 or Calvary Church of Amwell, 24 US Highway 202, Ringoes, NJ 08551.
