RYAN, Edward, died peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.
Born in Paterson, he lived in Midland Park before moving to Wyckoff ten years ago.
Edward was a traffic manager, most recently with CSX Railways until retiring in 1982. He was a member of the New York City Traffic Club.
Ed served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army serving in the South Pacific where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a founding member of the Church of the Nativity, Midland Park where he served as an usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife Bettie Maes Ryan, his four children: Patricia Schuermann and husband Richard of Waldwick, Kenneth and wife Maureen of Upper Saddle River, Robert of Hawthorne and Barbara Aldarelli and husband Geoffrey of Toms River, his five step-children: Edmond Maes of GA, Patricia Van Brandenburg of Tenafly, Joan Maes Weindorf of Hardyston Township, Dyan Moore of Carlstadt and Carol Stabile of Paramus. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Ricky, Ryan, Ken, Scott and Meghan.
Edward was predeceased by his first wife Ruth of forty-four years in 1993 and his daughter-in-law Patricia Ryan in 2000.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday, 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff. Funeral Prayers, Friday, 9:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park. Interment, Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
