Dorothy Berry, 88, of Sandy Drive and formerly of Locust Avenue, Amsterdam, New York, passed away Saturday evening May 18, 2019 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam. Born in New York City on April 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George and Kathleen Concannon Rueppel. Dorothy received her education at Katherine Gibbs School and graduated from Cathedral High School both in New York City. Dorothy was a former Legal Secretary for Campbell and White law firm in Amsterdam. She was also a secretary at Coleco Industries in Amsterdam and Alexander Smith Carpet Mills in Yonkers, NY. Dorothy was married to William Berry on May 27, 1956. He passed away on January 21, 1976. Dorothy is survived by two sons, William Berry Jr. (Wendy nee Brandt) of Ann Arbor, MI; and Christopher Berry (Wendy nee Ward) of Niskayuna, NY and one daughter, Barbara Berry Sprouse (Walter) of Amsterdam, one sister, Carol Rueppel of Amsterdam, one brother, Robert Rueppel (Janice) of Cherry Hill, NJ; and a sister in law, Patricia Rueppel of Norfolk VA; grandchildren, Catherine Wock (Thomas), Meghan Berry, Sarah Berry, Alexander Berry, Alexis Berry and Olivia Sprouse. Nieces and nephews also survive. Dorothy was also predeceased by a brother, John Rueppel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11:00 to 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
