Ethel Wickham

Ethel M. Wickham, 91 of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Sunday Morning, March 5, 2017 at her home. Born in Fort Plain, NY on November 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marion Lord Spraker. Ethel received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Ethel was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Hays & Wormuth Inc., insurance provider in Amsterdam. Ethel was a former member of the First Methodist Church of Amsterdam and the Fulton County Antique Car Club. Ethel is survived by her husband, James C. Wickham Sr. They would have celebrated their 74 wedding anniversary on April 9 2017, two sons, James C. Wickham Jr., of Amsterdam, NY and Alan Wickham (Jeannette) of Broadalbin, NY, one sister, Gloria Balestra of Johnstown, NY, four grandchildren, Gayle Wickham, Alan Wickham Jr. and his wife, Terry, Scott Wickham and Thomas Wickham and his wife, Amy, four great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons and one great great-grandson. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. It was Ethel’s request that no funeral services be held. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Memorial gifts in Ethel’s name may be made to Leatherstocking Honor Flight C/O Robert Lee Walsh American Legion Post 337, 19 North Main Street, Broadalbin NY 12025.
