Stuart W Quick

Stuart W. Quick, 87, of Widow Susan Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away peacefully Tuesday October 22, 2019 surrounded by family at Albany Medical Center. Born in Amsterdam April 8, 1932, he was the son of the late John “Ted” and Harriet Blunck Quick Sr. Stu received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. He also attended Hudson Valley Community College and Great Lakes Electrical Training Center. Stuart was an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran, serving from 1951 to 1954; he then went on to work at Mohawk Mills Carpet, General Electric Co. and after 35 years of service, retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation. Stu was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ballston Spa, NY. He loved the Lord, his home, and watching the birds from his kitchen window with his wife, “Dot”. Stu is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hughes Quick, son, Douglas R. Quick, daughters, Valerie Quick Fitch of St. Paul, MN; and Marilyn Quick Wick of Talkeetna, AK; brothers, Marvin and David Quick, grandchildren, Breyn Leigh, Erik R., and Paul Michael Fitch, Israel, Brandon, Jedidiah, Roanna and Moriah Wick. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Stu was also predeceased by his brother, John Quick Jr., and his sister, Audrey Zabo. Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Final interment will be private at Hagaman Mills Cemetery at a later date. Funeral services will be held Monday October 28, 2019 at 3 pm at the Riley Mortuary 110 Division St, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Relatives and friends may call from 1-3pm prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in Stuart’s name to Christ Episcopal Church, 15 W. High Street, Ballston Spa, NY 12020, or to a charity of your choice.
