Vincent J. Montagnino, 90, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday evening August 12, 2019 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam on September 24, 1928, he was the son of the late Vincenzo J. and Concetta Lombardo Montagnino. Vince received his education in the Amsterdam school system, attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School, and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in 1947. Vince was the proprietor of Montagnino’s Market in Amsterdam. Vince was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam. He was also a life member of the Columbian Social Club. He was most proud of being a teammate with the championship basketball team he played on while attending St. Mary’s. On April 30, 1950, he married Lorraine R. DiCaprio Montagnino. Lorraine passed away March 7, 2004. Vince is survived by two daughters, Linda Montagnino and Patricia Tatlock, both of Amsterdam, one brother, Joseph Montagnino of Amsterdam and one sister, Susan LeCornu of Chula Vista, CA; five grandchildren, Dennis, Kelly, Amanda, Jennifer and Melanie; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Taylor, Ivan, Lily, Dylan and Boone. Nieces and nephews also survive. Vince was also predeceased by a brother, Thomas and a sister Sara Rouse. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 17, 2019 at 10:15 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours are Friday August 16, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
