Virginia Anne Dorsey
Virginia “Anne” Hooker Dorsey, 89, of 14 Center Street, Angelica, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Born February 18, 1929 on her parents’ farm on the Peavy Road in Angelica, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olive (Vincent) Hooker. On December 27, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert J. Dorsey, who predeceased her on April 4, 1962.
Anne attended a one-room school house until 8th grade when she went to Angelica Central School, graduating as salutatorian of the class of 1946. Anne worked as a secretary at Angelica Central School, retiring in 1989. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Her interests included reading, walking, working in and around her home, and most of all her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her son, Robert A. Dorsey, and daughter, Joan (Dan) Guiney, both of Wellsville, and her grandchildren, Katie Guiney and her husband Craig Phenes of Danville, Kentucky and grandsons, Daniel Robert Guiney of Greenville, South Carolina and Brian Dorsey of Georgia and great-grandson, Sean Guiney. She is also survived by sisters, Mavis Reniff, Marilyn Peterson, and Arlene (Dale) Kepner, sisters in law, Sally Hooker and Dolores Fleming, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, are her son, Charles E. Dorsey, who passed away November 11, 2015, a granddaughter Elizabeth Anne Dorsey, who passed away on September 9, 1972, brothers, Harry Junior Hooker and Elton Hooker and a sister, Geraldine Hooker.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Angelica. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Park Circle, Angelica, with Father Richard Hamlin officiating. Burial will be in the Until the Day Dawn cemetery where 8 generations of family rest.
