Gerald D. Hughes of Sandusky, NY died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at his residence at the age of 84. He was born February 7, 1933 in Sandusky, NY a son of the late Calvin and Miriam (Pugh) Hughes. He was a member of the Arcade United Methodist Church, the caretaker of the Sandusky Cemetery and was a welder. He was a self-employed dairy farmer and had worked at Koike-Aronson's in Arcade. He had also drove school bus for Pioneer Central Schools. His wife, Joan A. (Eaton) Hughes whom he married May 19, 1956 in Orchard Park, passed away June 8, 2016. He is survived by his children: Karen (Marc) Immerman of Elmira and Kathy (Les) Agan of Ontario, NY; his siblings: Harlene Doud of Castile and Richard (Nancy) Hughes of Vero Beach, FL; also survived by three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11 AM at the Arcade United Methodist Church, 212 E. Main St., Arcade. There will be no prior visitation. He will be laid to rest in Sandusky Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Arcade United Methodist Church of to the Sandusky Cemetery Association.
