Jerome A. Smith, Sr., of Brown Schoolhouse Rd., Freedom, died Sunday January 8, 2012 in the Trinity Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 73. He was born February 5, 1938 in North Tonawanda a son of the late Andrew and Evelyn Gill Smith. He was a parts inspector at the Chevrolet plant in Tonawanda and was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Arcade worship site. His wife Helen B. Faith Smith whom he married October 14, 1961 in Frederick, MD died September 8, 2002. He is survived by his children: Teresa Webber of Freedom, John (Jeree) Gamble of Freedom, Francis (Linda) Gamble of Delevan, Mary (Harold) Fink of Weaver, Alabama, Jerome Smith, Jr. of Key West, FL; a brother: Frederick (Peggy) Smith of Tonawanda; a sister: Margaret (Tom) Polek of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son: LeRoy "Butch" Gamble who died May 2, 1995.
