Lorna J. Block

Lorna J. Block of Vaughn St., Springville died Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital in Springville. She was born in Machias, NY a daughter of the late S.J. and Lura Mae (Williams) Lingenfelter. She was a school bus driver for 36 years for the Springville Griffith Institute school district. During her 36 years, Lorna received 20 jackets from S.G.I. as a result from her perfect attendance and no accidents each year. Also while being a school bus driver she worked weekends at Fiddler’s Green as a Nurse’s Aide. Her first job was at Bush Industries in Salamanca, NY followed by Robinson Knife Company in Springville and then the glove factory on North Street in Springville. She enjoyed going out to restaurants and as a result she had eaten in every restaurant from Olean to North Boston, NY. She also enjoyed country music, working in her gardens at home and mowing the lawn. Lorna loved flowers. She had fresh cut flower bouquets in the house everyday no matter what time of year it was. She had always wanted to drive a tractor-trailer but unfortunately, never got to do it. Lorna is survived by her son – Dennis Block of Springville; her sister – Maisie (late Miner) Everts of Springville, Grace (Robert) Rosier of Sardinia, Lura Hoch of Springville; several nieces and nephews as well as two special personal aides – Sandy and Amy. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings – Corinne (Ed) Comisarek, Thelma (Wilbur) Fuller, John (Joyce) Lingenfelter, Ronald (Barb) Lingenfelter and Donald Lingenfelter. A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 AM at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main Street Arcade. Rev. Shawn Hannon was the officiant and she was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Springville.
