Philip L. Sampson Obituary

Philip L. Sampson of Rt. 98, Farmersville Station died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital in Cuba, NY at the age of 85. He was born August 7, 1931 in Farmersville, NY a son of the late Leon and Ruth (Johns) Sampson. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran and served from 1956-1958. He was a member of the Arcade Baptist Church and attended the Rushford Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was on the Canisius milk board for many years, the Rushford School board for 15 years as well as the Town Justice for Farmersville for 10 years. He was a self-employed dairy farmer. He is survived by his wife - Patricia (Vickman) Sampson whom he married December 10, 1955 in the Farmersville Baptist Church; his children: Duane (Nancy) Sampson of Rushford, Darrell (Joyce) Sampson of Bliss, Dale (Rachael) Sampson of Elizabethtown, PA, Linda (Steve) Tullar of Rushford and Lorraine (Tom) Finch of Farmersville; his brother - Alvin (Janice) Sampson of Farmersville; his sister-in-law: Carol Sampson of Farmersville; also survived by 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Ruth Marie Sampson and Marvin Sampson. Friends may call Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11 AM at the Rushford Baptist Church, 9016 Main St., Rushford, NY 14777 with Pastor Jonathan Finley and Pastor Robert Cook officiating. He will be interred at the Freedom Cemetery, Freedom, NY where he will receive military honors. Memorials may be made to the Rushford Baptist Church, the Odosagih Bible Conference, 3204 Hazelmere Ave., Machias, NY 14101, the Bliss Summit Bible Camp, 6113 Horton Rd., Bliss, NY 14024 or to the Farmersville Rescue Department, 980 Elton Rd., Farmersville Station, NY 14060
