Argyle/South Glens Falls Gladys Ely, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Indian River Nursing Home. Born in Paultney, VT on April 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William Sylvanus and Ellen (Thomas) Jones. She married Fred Ely in 1941 and spent 50 wonderful years together before Fred passed in 1991. Gladys enjoyed reading, baking, going for Sunday rides, her nick knacks and especially loved being a mother to her children and grandchildren along with many of their friends. Besides her parents and husband, Gladys is predeceased by a son, William Ely. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Wayne Ely and wife Sandy, Bruce Ely and wife Coleen, Debra Houk and husband Gerald, and Rebecca Calvi, along with 7 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, one brother, Hayden Jones, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
