Hartford Neal G. Morse, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving daughters. Born September 17, 1924 on the family farm in East Hartford, he was the son of Charles E. and Etta Maud (Reed) Morse. He married Alberta Jean Clark in 1954 and was a faithful husband for 50 years until her passing in 2004. Neal proudly served his country, and was stationed at a US Army hospital base in Japan at the end of WWII. He loved to talk about his experiences and show his many pictures. In his early years he was a dairy farmer, worked for the Town of Hartford Highway Department before taking a job with Imperial Wallpaper, which became Hercules, which became Ciba Geigy from which he retired in 1986. After his retirement he remained very active. Neal delivered the Chronicle and became a familiar figure at local flea markets selling his woodcrafts. He enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends. Neal was always available to anyone who needed help and often said that he didn't know how he ever found time to work. He deeply loved his family and could tell you how each member of his extended family was related. Neal was instrumental in reinstituting the Morse Family Reunion in 2006. Besides his wife and parents, Neal was predeceased by his siblings Edna Harrington, Ina Harrington, Rita Knapp, Gladys Morse, Glenn Morse, and Alta Morse. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Lynn Morse of Rutland, VT and Diane Morse of Hartford; a special "honorary daughter" Dianna (John) Sherman, his grand-dogs, Princess and Baby; sister-in-law, Anne Clark; brother in-law, John Clark and wife Phyllis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
