FORT EDWARD Richard L. Whitford, 67, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side. Born June 26, 1947 in Troy, NY, he was the son of Leroy and Mildred (Prince) Whitford. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the American Legion Post13 in Bennington, VT. Richard enjoyed the country. He loved to farm, drive his tractors, and take care of his cows. He was an avid fan of old Western movies, and was also a Chargers fan, but most of all, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his father, Leroy Whitford. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine (Baldwin) Whitford, his children; Bret Whitford and fianceé Rebecca Wood, and Rena Rock and her husband TJ, his grandchildren; Scott Douglas Whitford, Cooper James Whitford, Landon Beckett Rock, and Haley Lynn Whitford, his mother, Mildred (Prince) Whitford, his siblings; Sherry VanAmerongen and her husband Phil, Sue Williams and her husband Fred, Bruce Whitford and his wife Kathy, Gary Whitford and his wife Joan, his previous daughter-in-law Meagan Whitford, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call from 11-1pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809. Interment will follow at the Warren Cemetery in Boyntonville, NY.
