Eva Fecycz Obituary

Eva Kozak Fecycz, 91, was mercifully released from the torment of dementia on Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was born in Dubya Ukraine, one of nine children of Ivan and Maria Babiak Kozak. During WW II she spent her teenage years on German forced labor farms. Along with her first husband Maksym Wejko and their daughter she immigrated to the United States in 1949. Her husband died six months later, and she moved with friends to the Philadelphia/Trenton area. She moved to Auburn in 1954 and married Peter Fecycz. Eva held jobs with Mother’s Bakery, Barbara Jay Footwear, Perones Gladiolas, and the cafeteria at SS Peter & Paul School. She was proud of the fact that she was able to master the operating of a commercial dishwasher. She became a naturalized citizen in 1965. She was a communicant of SS Peter & Paul Church where she was active in parish activities. She enjoyed homemaking, reading, and flower gardening, watching her soaps, and chatting with the neighbors. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers and a large extended family in Ukraine. She also leaves her godchild Julie Macyczko Lupo and the families of two dear lifelong friends Anastasia Sowa and Aniela Bobesky. She was predeceased by her first husband Maksym Wejko, her son John H. Fecycz, her second husband Peter Fecycz, her daughter and caregiver Mary Wejko, and several brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Friends are invited to funeral services for Eva at 9:30 A.M. Friday in SS Peter & Paul Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Eva requested no calling hours. Contributions may be made in her memory to SS Peter & Paul Church or the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, Sloatsburg, NY. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Commons on St. Anthony, and all the home care aides who helped care for Eva.
