Lucelia Alice Talbot Kempf, 79, passed away on April 11, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born March 15th, 1938 in Auburn, New York, and was a graduate of Central High School. After high school, she worked for Red Star Trucking, and later as a legal secretary. She married Richard Kempf in 1962. They later settled in Liverpool, NY, where they lived for many years. After her children were born she stayed at home to raise them, and was active in PTA, FISH, Parish Council and many other volunteer organizations. After her kids were grown she worked for Community Computer, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She also enjoyed playing Bunco, bridge, bowling, gardening and visiting friends. She had a fear of flying, so she took road trips to Myrtle Beach, Cape Cod, and drove cross country with her girls and mother in 1978, a trip she always remembered. Lucy moved to Virginia in 1999 to be closer to her children and grandchildren, taking an active role in watching Emily and Will, and becoming “Nana”. She took pride in serving customers in the Wegman’s cheese shop where she worked part time. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Joanne Dzubak(Dave) of Centreville, VA, Amy Kempf of Louisville, KY and Julie Orellana of Westchester, VA. Lucy is also survived by her brother Jim (Patty) Talbot, sisters Peggy (Jim) Farrington and Bernie (Dick) Cornell, all of Auburn, 5 grandchildren Emily, William, Olivia, Eliza and Erin, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Kempf and her parents Jim and Jeanne Talbot. Friends are invited to call Monday, April 17, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Plis Funeral Home, 220 State St., Auburn. Funeral services will be at 9:45 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association. A very special thanks to the staff at Birmingham Green Cherry Blossom Nursing Home, Unit 300 for taking excellent care of Lucy the past few years, and going above and beyond what is normally expected.
