Obituary for Claire Frances Fournier

Dateline: Niskayuna, NY
Claire Frances Fournier, 87, of the Terrace at Glen Eddy, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was born in Albany, NY and was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Anna (Davis) Metzger, Sr. She was a graduate of Albany High School. Mrs. Fournier had lived in Albany and Colonie most of her life. She was a housewife and homemaker who enjoyed her family throughout the years. She kept busy at garage sales – LOVED THEM! - and if there was ever a dull moment, you could count on Claire to whip up a good game of scrabble. Wintering in Florida with her daughter and son-in-law made her very happy year after year. Claire was an avid reader and a communicant of Christ Our Light Church in Loudonville. Claire will be remembered for her sense of humor and prayerful concern for the welfare of family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Fournier who died in 1983; devoted mother of Kenneth J. Fournier of Colonie, NY and Theresa M. “Terri” (Roger) Murphy of Clifton Park, NY; loving grandmother of Melissa Knapp, Paul Fournier, Glenn Murphy and Jennifer Jacques; adored great-grandmother of Bryanna, Ashlyn, Katelyn, Sarah and Ava; caring sister of Joseph R. (M. Patricia Hans) Metzger, Jr. of Loudonville, NY and Shirley (Anthony) Crisafulli of Colonie, NY. She also leaves behind several loved nieces and nephews and her most dear friend of a life time, Josephine Pellerin of Guilderland, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Patrick Butler on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 11 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday prior to the Mass from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the church’s chapel.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Pine West Plaza Building 2, Suite 204, Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, NY 12205.

With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.
