Obituary for Lorraine K. Hinchey

Dateline – Burnt Hills, NY
Lorraine Knapik Hinchey passed away on December 20, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on February 17, 1922 to the late Cecil and Pearl Stafford.
Lorraine spent most of her adult life in the area; first in Glenville, then she and her family moved to Burnt Hills in 1972 where she raised her two sons and started her career as a local realtor. Lorraine loved the real estate field and had a successful business which she ran out of her home. Not only did Lorraine enjoy selling houses to new families, she also loved renovating her own home and was a self-taught architect drafting her own layouts and designs.
Lorraine so enjoyed this area and spent many days in the Adirondacks at her summer home on Friends Lake or carving snow in North Creek at Gore Mountain.
Lorraine was also an active member of her parish, The Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, and a lover of animals, especially her cat Trixie.
Lorraine is survived by her devoted son Daniel Knapik, loving granddaughters Amanda and Rochelle Knapik, Lindsay (Hartle) Downing, Kathleen Hartle, sisters-in-law Stephanie Hebert, Patricia Russon, Kathryn Powers, daughters-in-law Linda and Bonnie Knapik, and numerous cousins.
Lorraine is predeceased by beloved husbands Francis Knapik and Donald Hinchey, loving son Tom Knapik and caring brother Harold Stafford.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, December 23rd from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Townley and Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd, Ballston Lake, NY 12019. A service will immediately follow at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the spring at Jonesville Cemetery, Clifton Park, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or the animal charity of your choice.
