Obituary for Louis J. Mauro

Dateline: Clifton Park, NY
Beloved Louis J. Mauro “Pop”, age 87, of Chatsworth Way in Clifton Park passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. He was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Frank and Rose (Panella) Mauro. Lou was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School.
In 1946, he entered service with the US Marines Corps and was honorably discharged in 1948 as Corporal. He was a Machinist and Assemblyman at General Electric Co. in Schenectady for many years. He was a communicant and active participant in the Catholic faith, most recently of St. Edward the Confessor Church. “Pop” loved the simple things in life like home cooked meals, ice cream cones, and long car rides. He found it hard to pass by a Stewarts Shop without stopping for a Take 5 lotto ticket. He was a social man who was treasured by his friends and family. His quick wit and colorful character will be sorely missed by all who knew him. “Pop” touched the hearts of all he met through his ability to create light and laughter wherever he went.
He was the beloved husband of the late Bette J. (Finn) Mauro; loving father of Tina (John) Audino and Michele Tartaglia; cherished grandfather of Monique (Pauley) Vellano and Nicolette Audino; devoted brother to Joan (Rudy) Beerle; dedicated companion of Carol Ann Lowes, all of whom will miss him beyond measure. “Pop” also leaves behind a number of church friends who held him in the highest regard.
All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY.
Those who wish may make contributions in Lou’s name to Electric City Marine Corps League, 406 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12305 or to St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake NY, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Lou’s Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com
