Obituary for Timothy J. Durkee

Dateline: Ballston Lake, NY
Timothy “Tim” Durkee, age 40, of Forestbrook Drive, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Saratoga Hospital following a 3 year fight against lung cancer. He was born on January 25, 1976 in Argyle, NY.
Tim was the devoted love and partner of Dana M. Villanueva. Tim is survived by his brother David Durkee Jr. of Argyle, NY.; uncle Philip (Rebecca) Mandolare of Clarendon, VT and cousins Stephen, Sarah, and Shawn Mandolare. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Dominick and Margaret Mandolare. He leaves behind beloved animal companions, dog Jersey, cats Mango and Waldo, and bird Cheeko. He will be greatly missed by his adopted parents Peren and Christa Villanueva of Latham, NY, along with their children, Alex, Cory, Liza, Adam, Lucy, and Maya. Lastly, his legacy will live through the stories and adventures told by his long-time friends.
Raised in Fort Edward by his grandparents, Tim completed Argyle Central School, received his G.E.D. from St. Joseph’s School in Fort Edward, and then attended Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY and SUNY Empire State College. Professionally trained in broadcasting and business, Tim brought his talent to several radio stations, most recently in commercial production and as a DJ for then-titled Star 101.3FM. He also worked for the Landmark Motor Inn in Glens Falls, NY. Tim was a loyal hard worker, witty and funny, known for a great impression of late comedian Rodney Dangerfield. He was a genuine friend as described by his past coworkers and countless people he met during his life.
In the last few years, Tim struggled with the ups and downs of his health. Nevertheless, he made the most of his time, traveling with his love Dana and connecting with friends. Some of his favorite interests and hobbies included all things comics, radio, comedy, and wrestling. During the past year, Tim enjoyed writing for a friend’s website about comics. In his recent travels, Tim had the privilege to meet his favorite online radio host and several creators in the comic book world. As much as he loved new experiences in new places, he was just as content to be at home spending quality time in the animal “madhouse” that was his home.
Funeral will be private. Friends and family will gather to celebrate Tim’s life.
With confidence, the family has placed their trust in the loving care of the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Tim’s Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com
