Warren G. Foote, 96, of the Maplewood Manor Nursing Home and formerly of Prestwick Chase in Ballston Spa, NY, died on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY. He was born on May 22, 1917 in Ballston Spa, NY and was the son of the late Ralph and Blanche (Gilbert) Foote. Mr. Foote was a graduate of the Ballston Spa School System, class of 1936. Following graduation he worked at GE Plant lighting department. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in November of 1940 and completed boot camp training at Paris Island. He served with the Marine Air Wing Communications in the Solomon Islands and the Bougainville Island Landing Campaign. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946 as a Master Technical Sergeant. Mr. Foote attended Clarkson University and received his degree in electrical engineering in 1952. While living in East Northport, LI, he worked for Sperry Gyroscope Co in Great Neck, LI on development of electromagnetic components for military systems until 1963. From 1963—1973, he worked at Grumman Aerospace Corp in Bethpage, LI on the development of flight instrumentation systems for Apollo Lunar Module and mission support. He operated a franchise flooring business until December of 1975 when he retired and returned to his native Ballston Spa, NY. He enjoyed doing various work locally until finally settling down in 2001. He love to bowl and garden. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
He was the beloved husband of Laura (Eldridge) Foote; devoted father of Thomas R. (Pam) Foote of Greenwich, NY and Phyllis (William) Skidmore of Sandgate, VT; adored grandfather of Jennifer Foote and Thomas Foote; caring brother of the late Mildred Foote and Doris Braw; loving uncle of Gareth “Pete” (Sara) Gilbert.
Relatives and Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 4-6 PM at the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors will be in the Ballston Spa Village Cemetery, Ballston Spa, NY.
