Carol Zinter Obituary

Carol A. Zinter, of Newtown CT, formerly of Brewster NY, passed away on May 6, 2020. She was 75 years old.
Carol was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1944 in the Bronx, NY to the late Peter Marzec and Mary Morena. On September 23, 1967 she married Joseph Zinter, Jr at the Holy Family Church, Bronx, NY. Carol and Joseph spent the first years of their marriage in the Bronx before moving to Brewster NY where they raised their five children and were active members in St. Lawrence O’Toole Church and the Brewster community. After Joseph passed away on February 11, 2012, Carol moved to Maplewood at Newtown in Newtown, CT.
Carol was a warm soul who saw the good in everything and everybody. She was a loving mother to her five children and four grandchildren and was known to all as gentle, generous and kind. She had the ability to make everyone feel special and valued. Carol’s true pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing photos of them with her many friends at Maplewood and speaking of their accomplishments.
She supported numerous charities, knitted Christmas stockings and gifts for her children and others, and always greeted everyone with a smile. Carol was also a prolific lover of words, and enjoyed making customized “Chicken Soup for the Soul” picture books for her children. As a mother, Carol was the best a child could ask for. She was a teacher, a chef, a seamstress, a chauffeur, a peacemaker and a friend, she was whatever she needed to be to support her children. Carol enjoyed giving to others and gave selflessly.
Carol is survived by her loving children; Katherine Zinter (Dan Harvey), Rosemarie Sellati (Chuck), Debra Smith (Jimmy), Joseph Zinter, John Zinter (Joyce) and her adored grandchildren; Ethan and Owen Sellati, Kaitlin Smith and Sydney Zinter; and her beloved brother Peter Marzec (Rosalie) as well as many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A private family burial will be held on Monday May 11, 2020 at St. Lawrence O’ Toole Cemetery where she will be reunited with Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that everyone perform a random act of kindness in Carol’s honor. Please share a smile with a stranger as Carol so often did.
