Charles T. Baker Obituary

Charles Thomas Baker, Jr. died in his home in Croton-on-Hudson, NY at age 99, on March 15, 2021.

He was born on October 29, 1921 to Norma and Charles T. Baker. He grew up in Atlantic City, NJ, and had a lifelong love of the Atlantic shore. After graduating from Rutgers University, NJ in 1947, Charles served in the US Army as an electrical engineer during World War II, holding positions in Cuba, the Galápagos Islands and other sites. He was first employed at RCA before accepting employment at IBM as an electrical engineer in Yorktown Heights, and then Poughkeepsie NY, for 35 years.

He was married to his wife Patricia for 62 years. Charles was an avid photographer who displayed works in the Putnam County area, and the Southeast Museum in Brewster holds a collection of his photographs. Although an intensely private man, he was a devoted husband and father, and beloved by his whole family.

After living in Brewster, NY for 60 years, the Bakers moved to Bethel Community Springvale Assisted Living, located in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, in November 2019.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, as well as his son David Komyathy, and daughters Claudia Libero, Karen Smith, and Celia Karac. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Per Charles' wishes there will be no services.
