Charles E. Lundy, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, formerly of Brewster, N.Y. and Grahamsville, N.Y. passed away Saturday afternoon, in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was 88 years old.

Born December 28, 1932 in the family home, one of seven children, to the late James Joseph Lundy and Helen (Appell) Lundy. Charles was raised in Purdys, N.Y. where he enjoyed an active youth hunting, trapping and fishing. When he was 19 years old, Charles enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent his volunteer service aboard USS Midway during the Korean Conflict. After his time on active duty Charles worked as a police officer for the town of Bedford Hills for nearly a decade, and then for the Department of Environmental Protection – NYC – from 1973 until his retirement in 1999.

Charles was a skilled carpenter and built his home in Brewster where he and his one true love, and wife of more than 61 years, the late Fiona Mary (Graham) Lundy raised four of their children. When he and Fiona relocated the family to the Catskills, they added a fifth child.

Charlie Barley, as he was referred to during his youth, was a strong, determined, righteous and devoutly catholic man of faith and will be remembered as a person who cared deeply about God and family.

As with his late wife, Charles’ legacy will live through his 12 grandchildren, Justin, Kristin, Ryan, Colin, Sean, Graham, Ava, Alastair, Liam, Isla, Grace and Charlotte, as well as his newly arrived great grandchildren, Owen and June. Charles was sadly predeceased by his brother Patrick Lundy.
