Edith I. Berntsen, of Danbury, Ct, died on November 16, 2015, at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation in New Milford, CT. She was 91 years old.

Edith was born on July 26, 1924 in Staten Island, NY, daughter to the late Harold and Inga (Christensen) Tellefsen. She graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island in 1942.
Edith married Andrew J. Berntsen on October 10, 1953. He predeceased his wife.

Edith was a past treasurer of Sons of Norway, she enjoyed knitting and baking. A big past time of hers was reading about famous American women.

Mrs. Berntsen is survived by her daughter Carol L. Horkan and her husband Dan of Sherman, CT, and her granddaughters Melanie and Jessica. Also a niece and several nephews. She was predeceased by her son Robert A. Berntsen in 1989 as well as her sister Ruth Anderson and her brother Harold Tellefsen.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 11:00am at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY. Interment following at Wooster Cemetery, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9am – 11am. www.beecherfuneralhome.com
